A natural gas generator is a system that turns a natural combustible gas into useable electrical energy. This works by taking the gas and burning it in order to convert it into mechanical and then electrical energy using electromagnetic conductance. In other words the burning is used to power a turbine which turns inside a magnetic field in order to generate current.
What this really means for every body else is that you can get electrical power wherever you are without having to plug into the 'mains' (an electrical grid connected to a power station somewhere). In turn this means that you can run all manner of appliances without the need for usual power sources. This is practical because the natural gas generator and the gas that powers it will both be portable meaning that you can take them anywhere.
This is the first use for a natural gas generator – it allows you to get electrical power in remote regions. This is often useful for businesses and services that provide an outdoors service. For instance the most obvious example is a building site which will use the natural gas generator in order to power things like power drills and other things. Another example might be an outdoors carnival which would use the natural gas generator in order to power its big wheels and other rides. If you've ever been to a fun fair then you will have benefited from a generator of some sort – as you would have had you used other more permanent fixtures such as simulators.
These generators are useful then for businesses that work outside, and natural gas is also efficient meaning that these generators can save money compared to other kinds. At the same time though they may also be practical for companies that need the energy just temporarily outside. An example might be a business that is putting on some form of event or show for marketing purposes, or a company that is only temporarily providing certain outdoor services. Individuals might also occasionally use a natural gas generator in order to go camping for instance, while a band might use them while on tour. Thanks to generator enclosures they are completely portable and highly resilient.
At the same time having one around can be handy even if there is no pressing need for them. For instance if you run out of power for whatever reason then having a portable generator can act as a source of back up power. This is incredibly useful and means that you will never be completely without a source of energy even in the event of a power cut. For larger businesses it is good practice to have such a 'standby generator' that can operate as soon as there is a shortage of power. A standby generator works by kicking in immediately as the main source of power stops – being on standby in the interim – so that there is no noticeable shortage. In some cases this may even be important from a health and safety perspective where a power failure could cause dangerous faults.
